PORT OF POZZALLO

The commercial port of Pozzallo is frequented mainly by passenger ships, Ro-Ro and merchant ships; it is protected by a two-arm breakwater with SE-E direction and by a pier belowflow with a southerly direction. The east-facing section of the breakwater has a 600 m long quay where large ships with a maximum draft of 9.5 m can moor.
Dangers: green light off.
Hours of access: continuous.
Access: call Compamare Pozzallo; access to the commercial docks is not permitted for pleasure craft except in exceptional cases authorized by the Maritime Authority. Access is allowed for mooring to the floating dock located at the root of the inner breakwater.
Lighthouses and lights: 2934 (E 1890) - lighthouse with white flashes, grp 4, period 12 sec, range 15 M, on the beach; 2932 - buoy with yellow flashes, period 6 sec., range 3 M, signals the terminal of a submarine pipeline; 2934 (E 1889.5) - white flash lighthouse, grp. 4,period 12 sec., range 15 M, on the end of the triangular square of the breakwater; 2934.3 (E 1891) - red flashing light, period 5 sec., range 5 M, on the end of the outer breakwater of the tourist and fishing port; 2934.5 (E 1891.4) - green flashing light, 5 sec., range 5 M, at the end of the breakwater pier of the tourist and fishing port; 2935.5 (E 1889) - red flashing light, 3 sec., range 5 M, on the end of the breakwater of the industrial port; 2934.7 (E 1889.1) - green flashing light, 3 sec., range 5 M, on the end of the breakwater pier of the commercial port.
Sea bed: sandy and muddy.

Seabed: from 7 to 11 m.
Radio: Vhf channel 16 - 10 Compamare Pozzallo; Vhf Channel 10 Pilots; CB channel 09.
Winds: predominantly from the west.
Traversy: II quadrant.
Close: II, III and IV quadrant.
Closest safe anchorages: anchorage adjacent to the port.

Areas reserved for pleasure craft
Floating dock of about 50 m near the root of the breakwater; also on the latter was placed ajetty for refueling for pleasure and fishing units.
